Danko said Monarch Academy is very supportive of the project. The school sent email blasts home to its students’ families, set up a collection box at the school, and let Nathan talk to each class about the project. Danko said that Nathan’s classmates have been “really grown-up” about the project. There was no snickering, which would have been expected when the 9-year-old stood up to talk about underwear. “A lot of people brought in stuff,” said Nathan.

Last year, Nathan collected over 400 pieces of underwear with the help of his fellow Cub Scouts in Pack 712 at Monsignor Slade Catholic School, Monarch Academy classmates, friends and relatives. All donated new underwear will be distributed by HOPE For All to homeless people in the county. The bras will be given to Sarah’s House.
