One-to-one Cultural Exchange

Created in 2001, the one-to-one cultural exchange program is designed to share the culture, customs, and heritage of various African, Latin American and European countries through employment of foreign nationals in the highly important position of one-to-one instructor.

Among the professionals that form the educational team that carries out an individual education plan (IEP) for each child, one-to-one instructors work closely with students as mentors and ensure the overall effectiveness of the educational team at all three Children’s Guild campuses. The cultural differences between the student and foreign one-to-one instructors present a new frontier to the child, which in turn facilitates increased focus and a proven increase in commitment to learning from the child. Additional sharing of cultural aspects takes place through school assemblies for all students. One-to-one instructors share the introduction of sports customs and heritage from their home countries during these student assemblies designed to promote and understand cultural and individual differences.

Participants of the program are intended to be young men from African, Latin American or European countries. Countries including Argentina and Australia have had nationals participate in the program.
