Thank you to all of those parents, teachers, and staff members who attended our Holiday Music Recital on Thursday, December 21st. The recital was hosted by Monarch Academy Baltimore Public Charter School’s “After Care” Program and held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm in the Monarch Academy Baltimore’s music room.
The holiday recital was a chance for students in grades K1, K2, and K3 to perform holiday songs and choreographed dances for the Monarch Academy Baltimore staff, parents, and students. Among those in attendance were the President and CEO of The Children’s Guild, Dr. Andrew Ross, Monarch Academy Baltimore’s Head of School, Ahmed Evans, and school Principal, Kiara Hargrove.
Headed by After-Care Director and musical accompanist, Dottie Timberlake, the students performed both classic and new holiday songs such as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and “Old Time Rock and Roll” from the film, Risky Business. It was a lovely night of good will and holiday cheer.
If you were not able to attend the recital, please go to The Children’s Guild Facebook page to watch the video.
The Children’s Guild honors Terry and Debbie Carnes, who has raised more than $550,000 to support The Children’s Guild’s work. The Children’s Guild named its Prince George’s County campus school building The Terry and Dojuan Carnes Building.

Monarch Academy Baltimore Public Charter School hosted a Sno Ball Dance on Wednesday, December 20th at the Monarch Academy Baltimore gym from 8:45am-12:50pm.
The dance was a reward to students who demonstrated good behavior during the first school quarter by following the school norms and rules.
Honorary students were allowed to skip their usual school uniforms and dress up for the day in their best outfits to attend the dance. The students at the dance were treated to individual and group photos and were served fresh warm cookies and a variety of juices.
We look forward to celebrating more students at our next event.
A huge thank you to all of those who attended the Polar Bear Breakfast on Saturday, December 16th and a very special thank you to the Monarch Academy Baltimore PTA for hosting the breakfast to benefit the students at Monarch Academy Baltimore. The Polar Bear Breakfast was held from 10:00am-1:00pm at Monarch Academy Baltimore Public Charter School located at 2525 Kirk Avenue in Baltimore.
Many parents, students, teachers, and staff showed up in their pajamas to celebrate the holiday season. Attendees enjoyed a buffet style traditional breakfast served in the school cafeteria that included bacon, sausage, biscuits, waffles, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices.
After the breakfast, everyone was invited to go to the school’s gym to enjoy the various activity stations that were set up. While the movie “Frozen” played on the big overhead screen in the school’s gym, the parents, teachers, and staff took part in helping the students at the arts and crafts station, coloring station, picture taking station, and music listening station.
Everyone had a grand old time.
We sure hope to see all of you again at the 2018 Polar Bear Breakfast.

Monarch Academy Baltimore Public Charter School hosted the 4th Annual Public Charter School Fair on December 2, 2017. The event was sponsored by the Maryland Alliance of Public Charter Schools and held from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Monarch Academy Baltimore Public Charter School located at 2525 Kirk Avenue in Baltimore. The Charter School Fair gave parents the opportunity to meet with representatives from over 30 different public charter schools that provide options to grades Pre-K3 through 12th grade.
We are so pleased with the great turnout because it provided an enormous level of exposure for Monarch Academy Baltimore. Parents and charter school representatives were intrigued as well. They made comments about the beautiful murals on the school walls and even signed up to come back for a tour of the school.
