Monarch Global Academy educator and custodian honored
LAUREL, Md.—Monarch Global Academy’s Beth Matthews, coordinator of the school’s International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, was named Elementary School Educator of the Year, and Gary Cooper, the custodian at Monarch Global Academy, was named Administrative Support Staff of the Year by the Central Maryland Chamber.
Matthews and Cooper were recognized at the chamber’s Spirit of Community Awards Dinner, which honors public safety officers from the fire, police and sheriff’s departments, local educators, business partners and military service members. The Central Maryland Chamber serves businesses and organizations in western Anne Arundel County and eastern Howard County.
Monarch Global Academy, an affiliate of the TranZed Alliance, is a public contract school in Laurel, Maryland, for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, operating under the Transformation Education philosophy that infuses a school’s beliefs and values into the look of the school building, instructional approach, teachers’ mindset and behavior and operating systems. Monarch Global Academy is an International Baccalaureate school, emphasizing transdisciplinary learning and international-mindedness.
