We invite you to check out the latest issue of Transformation. Catch up on all the news at The Children’s Guild Alliance and learn how we work every day to put kids first.
The feature story announces our partnership with the League of Dreams and the opportunities we are giving students to experience the sense of accomplishment that comes from playing a sport – regardless of ability or disability.
We bring attention to the important role our psychiatrists play in Behavioral Health Services and how our School Based Mental Health program has expanded The Children’s Guild Alliance’s reach into 80 public schools in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Prince George’s and Howard counties and Baltimore City.
We congratulate our first TAWS (TranZed Academy for Working Students) graduating class. We also applaud our TranZed Apprenticeship program for being honored by Governor Hogan for pioneering modern apprenticeships in Maryland’s IT industry and for graduating the state’s first cybersecurity apprenticeship.
We explain how The Children’s Guild Alliance was selected to manage College Park Academy, a 650-child
K-12 school created by a partnership between the University of Maryland College Park and the City of College Park. Additionally, we introduce some of our newer staff members, Kathy Lane, chief education officer; Brandon Turner, director of admissions and Gary Kellner, chief development officer.
We celebrate a true Children’s Guild Alliance romance between co-workers Lonya Jackson and Joe Sorrell, who tied the knot in the TranZed Conference Center in April, and we cherish the memories created by a local Harley-riding veterans group who visited our Treatment Foster Care children at Christmas bearing gifts for all.
Of special interest are the stories from our schools featuring exciting happenings such as Black History month activities, marching in the Dr. Martin Luther King Parade in D.C., a student becoming a published poet, celebrations of Dr. Seuss’s birthday and much more.
Get a sneak preview of the 17th Annual NAREN TranZed Conference in October, which will focus on building success for the whole child. And finally, see pictures from our 2019 Golf Classic that raised more than $90,000.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue of Transformation and wish you a wonderful and relaxing summer.
